Gwen has been a life-long librarian. She began her career quite early, issuing homemade library cards for her teddy bears and creating a meticulous card catalog for her Babysitter’s Club series. In sixth grade, she was asked to “let the other kids have a chance” during the Name That Book event at her library’s Summer Reading program. After spending many years as a children’s librarian and collection development specialist at Denver Public Library, she joined Brodart to share her passion for children’s literature with as many different libraries as possible.
Gwen now lives in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with her family and a big, orange cat. She spends way too much money on cookbooks and exotic herbs, loves gardening, and has branched out from reading children’s books professionally to reading children’s books aloud at home every day. Gwen was honored to serve on the 2019 Caldecott selection committee.
